Medicare

 

As you may or may not know Medicare is not designed to cover the costs of extended care.  As stated in the Medicare guide, Choosing a Medigap Policy, page 14:

 

What Medicare and Medigap policies don’t cover:

 

♦    Long-Term Care                  ♦   Private Duty Nursing

♦    Vision and Dental      ♦  Unlimited Prescription Drugs

♦    Hearing Aids

 

Medicare will cover Rehab or what they call “Skilled Care” in a Nursing Home or part-time skilled care in your home.  This is very limited in nature and the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 has slashed care even more!  Over 900,000 people have lost their home care services under Medicare since 1998 when this law went into effect!
